about

(LATER - now with new album art/cover - to see the original cover photo click on the actual title/name of the first track)

.............................................

It might be obvious that here is another of my rural-feeling albums even though I haven't done any long walks in the countryside this year because it is a huge bog, and the cover photo is of central London. But throughout my relatively short musical time on Bandcamp I think I'll always feel that things peaked around the time of those Hymen/Hymn/Hymnal albums - it wasn't just the music, which was sometimes lovely and sometimes not, it was the whole feel of that time, I think it was during lockdown, a friend and I were discovering the countryside again, along with everyone else - but it was quite easy to get away from everyone - and anyway at that time everyone you met was ultra-friendly - what a time we shared together - probably only fellow-introverts will agree when I say that that time was one of the happiest times of our lives.

Well this is meant to be another album that sounds like Hymen/etc. You might say that it is stupid to try to redo something that's been done before. But that means that everything I've ever done has been stupid - because everything I've ever done has been an attempt to capture that mood and that music. At its best I think this one still falls a way short, but I can hear something of the mood I wanted/want. With this one I tried extra-hard to keep everything sounding the same, and of course failed - but it took a few years till I realised Hymen/etc were so nice and I won't let myself get too sad that right now this album feels a pale imposter - in a few years it might finally reveal itself to be as brilliant as the older ones and in the words of Scarlet O'Hara (honestly): “death, taxes and childbirth! There’s never any convenient time for any of them.”

recorded over the past week - apart from one track (crap charity shop acoustic gtr) all tracks recorded to mic from a Lidl "sheffield" keyboard and then randomly kneaded in Audacity - photo/cover/splash by me - original photo, seen if you click on the name/title of the first track, London about a week ago
