about

I'll probably do a CDR of this one later - my first attempt to make some covers has gone wrong - without any sunshine/warmth in the house the paint turns the cardboard to mush before it is dry, and nothing works.

No there is no Selected Transient Works I,

But the music - yes I do quite like this one - I think it's worked - it's one for if yr feeling austere and bleak and you just want to be in one of those films where they live in old houses and huts which don't have any furnishings or ornaments - just the bare bed and the wooden floor, and that forces them to go outside to find their beauty - so yes I suppose I am saying that this is an album which will encourage you to go elsewhere if you want beauty - but that's not to say it's bad or anything.

This one grew on me more and more while I was making it. That's unusual. Usually the opposite happens - I start making an album all full of hope and great ideas - oh THIS is going to be the album that gets me some fans at last - and then as the album gets bigger so it also gets obvious that this will just be another of the hundreds of whatevers, and that it'll take a few more thousand till I hit the place where we're all meant to be aiming for.

No I don't know either - where it is - I'm fairly sure I'd hate it if I ever got there. But this one is one you might like more than I do, being as I am one of those weirdos on Bandcamp who likes nice pretty cheap poppy music, and on my mooches round BC I notice that the stuff that gets all the fans isn't like that.

Why keep going on here, doing this ? - I think it's still the amazement that I've lasted till a time when you can turn crap battery-produced placky kiddy-keyboards electric notes into stuff that sometimes almost sounds tuneful or different - those of us of An Age will remember when bedroom music was made with jumble sale cassette recorders and bangs on a washing up bowl, and it couldn't've sounded more terrible. Nowadays, it can. But sometimes it doesn't. All thanks to a bog-standard everyday computer and Audacity - now I can sound like Pink Floyd, though obviously I choose not to.

The current cover/photo was taken at Calshot yesterday (Friday) - most of us think of Calshot as being a narrow pebbly beach, but catch it when the tide is at its very-brief lowest and it is quite sandy, as in the pic. Yes it was another walk. The trouble with finding the one thing that makes you feel the most alive and high is that everything else is a bit grey, but I think I will soon be too old for walking and so my love will have to transfer to something else and then maybe at last I'll love music instead - but just because this album was raised by someone who doesn't know what love is doesn't mean it's worthless - all the best people had crap childhoods.

recorded over the past few days, cover painting by me done on the day after release
