about

.

I'm a total two-faced untrustworthy twat when it comes to football. When I'm with people who hate sport I generally admit that it bores me too. When I'm with people who love it I sadly attempt to keep up. It's woeful. Born in this area and always living in this area, I've always supported Saints - but I'm a total fair-weather fan. I get depressed for 24 seconds if Saints lose. Week before last in the Asda car park in Totton there was a stall selling Echos and if you bought one you also got two boxes of Dorset muesli. Everyone's favourite muesli. Including me. Yes I'm a fairly normal person. I don't normally buy the Echo - though I like it and will always rescue and read any old copies I get from the recycling bins. But 65p for two boxes of Dorset muesli - madness not to. And with the Echo came this poster of SFC. And purely in an attempt to impress any visitors, I put it up in the kitchen. I'm having difficulty getting my head around the fact that Southampton is starting to seem like a great city. I admit that from a tourist's point of view it's a non-starter and even Portsmouth is less boring than Southampton. But Southampton is starting to look and feel a lot better - e.g. that long straight-ish drive from the Rushington roundabout to the Harbour LIghts cinema - one of the best micro road-trips in southern England. and the best approach/entrance to any city in the UK. Perhaps on a sunny day Portsmouth is better. But there's only one way into Portsmouth and it's always a car park. Maybe zoop out the other side of Southampton, over the Itchen bridge on the top deck of a double-decker - you've really done it - everything you can do for a hundred miles in any direction - seen it all.
